What we can learn from animals
Here at the farm we have animals galore…pigs and chickens and cows and more. We even have rats! Although that isn’t supposed to be how it is; they came one day and no matter what poison we lay down they seem intent on staying.
So, here, for your enjoyment, are animals and what we can learn from them:
-
Pigs: the pigs, what with their carefree attitude to life and love of cleanliness – people think they are messy but actually they really love being clean and hygienic – can teach us a lot about how to do things better. One thing our pigs do is oink extra loudly. This makes them one of the most assertive animals on our farm.
-
Chickens: the chickens are easily, by far the most optimistic birds in the world, in our opinion. They bop their heads constantly and are always keen to start a new day what with their love of getting up early and waking us all up well before we might otherwise…
And here are some more…
They are a secret society who I always imagine have computers and blackboards and everything underground
-
Cows: the cows are just very content. Calm, thoughtful, never in a hurry: this is how the cows like to live. They never give us any hassle and are somewhat philosophical about their existence. If you catch them in the right light you can see them pondering things in a highly intellectual way which baffles me just to think about it. I kid you not!
-
Rats: if rats were people then they’d be doing poster printing , I think. I say this because they spend a lot of time scampering around and it reminds me of the man who comes to pick up bacon and never has any time (he runs the local village newspaper, don’t you know).
-
The geese: the loudest of them all, when the geese feel like competing with the morning cries of the roosters, it’s well…it’s very loud is what it is. When this happens I run outside and tell them all off and they all scamper and shut up. It’s really quite amusing, actually. I seriously doubt they will ever learn…
-
The moles: the moles crop up everywhere, yes, even in the crops themselves. They are a secret society who I always imagine have computers and blackboards and everything underground. But there again, my mother always did say I had a vivid imagination…(although if you saw how intelligent they look when they bop up out of the ground all unexpected, I’m sure you’d think exactly the same about them!).
